Do you have a shoebox full of baseball cards in your attic? If so, you could be sitting on a gold mine. Of course, it depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, what cards they are, what condition they are in, and if the cards are autographed by the players. Baseball card prices can vary greatly. The baseball card prices of some players are much higher than those of other players. For example, if you have Babe Ruth, Roberto Clemente, and Mickey Mantle cards, they are generally going to be worth much more than the cards that feature players who are not legendary. If a player has been entered into the Baseball Hall of Fame, his cards will usually be worth more than the cards of players that have not reached that goal. The cards of players who have passed away generally bring more value than those of players who are still living as well. A player’s baseball record also has an effect on the price of his cards. If he has broken any records, his cards generally bring a higher value. Rookie cards of legendary players are usually worth the most money. Autographed cards are also high priced cards, but the autographs must be authentic and genuine. Preprinted autographs don’t count. They have to be signed by the player himself after the card has been in circulation. The condition of your cards plays a large part when baseball card prices are determined. If there are bends, folds, tears, rips, stains, water damage, or other physical defects, the cards could be worthless.
